Position Type: Full Time

Experience: 3 - 5 Years

Close on: 30 Mar 2026

Position Description

The Microbiologist will support in-house research and IVD product development activities by performing hands-on microbiology and molecular biology work.

The role involves culturing and managing microbial strains, handling approved clinical samples, and supporting assay development and analytical validation studies in a regulated environment.

The position requires strong laboratory discipline, accurate documentation, and close collaboration with assay development, quality, and validation teams to ensure reliable and compliant diagnostic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Culture, isolate, identify, characterize, and maintain microbial strains (including wild-type, pathogenic, and MDR strains), reference standard materials, sourced from ATCC/MTCC or other authorized repositories, including upkeep of a traceable culture bank. Execute microbiology and molecular laboratory experiments supporting assay development, optimization, and analytical validation, including microbial quantification, spiked sample preparation, and PCR-based workflows. Handle microbial and approved clinical samples for cell extraction and downstream analysis in compliance with biosafety and infection control requirements. Support quality control and quality assurance activities by following approved SOPs, participating in validation studies, and ensuring data integrity in a regulated IVD environment. Maintain accurate, complete, and traceable laboratory documentation, including experimental records and logs, in line with internal quality systems and regulatory expectations. Proficient in standard microbiology laboratory equipment, including autoclaves, incubators, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, weighing balances and microscopes, with hands-on experience in media and reagent preparation. Strong experience in culturing, maintaining, and managing microbial strains, including wild-type, pathogenic, and MDR strains, with the ability to establish and maintain a traceable culture bank. Experience in handling clinical samples for microbial cell extraction, following approved biosafety, infection control, and ethical guidelines. Skilled in microbial quantification (CFU enumeration, dilutions) and preparation of spiked samples in relevant matrices to support assay development and validation studies. Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including DNA isolation from microbial cultures and PCR-based workflows. Exposure to cloning and transformation workflows, including preparation of competent cells, clone selection, and basic characterization. Knowledge of infection control practices, microbial pathogenesis, and end-to-end experimental ownership from media preparation to strain/clone characterization, with strong documentation discipline.
